**SCOPE OF POSITION:**

Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints to define schematics for entry level welders.

+ Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.

+ prepare, weld, and fabricate metal structures and components

+ measure, cut, and assemble metal projects using an electric arc and inert gas.

+ inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.

+ may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.

+ familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.

+ label all parts in the correct method

+ maintain a time log of work progress

+ may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.

+ additional duties as required

**Qualifications**

**KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION:** (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

+ High School diploma or equivalent required

+ demonstrated ability to read blueprints

+ 5 years fabrication experience proficiency

+ ability to MIG weld light and heavy gauge materials

+ ability to weld (grinding and finishing) according to AWS standards

+ ability to read a tape and cut material accurately

+ knowledge of safety procedures and ability to work safely

+ maintain clean working environment

+ fluent in English; Spanish speaking skills a plus
