The Textile Designer will be responsible for creating original designs for various textile products, including clothing and other textile needs for the company. The designer will work closely with clients, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to develop designs that meet their needs while also staying on trend and meeting quality standards.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

· Create original textile designs using traditional and digital design tools.

· Stay current with design trends and incorporate them into textile designs.

· Use various techniques such as digital tools to create textile designs.

· Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in all work, ensuring that designs are production ready.

· Work closely with the design, production, and sales team to ensure that textile designs are produced accurately and meet quality standards.

· Work closely with clients and manufacturers to understand their needs and develop designs that meet their specifications.

· Conduct market research to identify trends and stay current on industry developments.

· Prepare sketches and other design materials for presentation to clients and stakeholders.

· Work collaboratively with other designers, technicians, and production staff to ensure designs are executed accurately and efficiently.

· Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

· Maintain accurate records of design projects, including samples, swatches, and design files.

 

Requirements/Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Fashion/Textile Design or related field.

· 3+ years of experience with stretch fabrics, leather, vinyl, dancewear, traditional woven, and nontraditional fabrics such as plastic, lace, power mesh, nylon, denim, etc.

· 3+ years of Experience in patternmaking across many categories including but not limited to tailored woven, spandex/swim/dancewear, lingerie, leather, eveningwear, accessories, outerwear, and more.

· Knowledge of textiles, fabrics, and printing process.

· Proven experience as a textile designer, with a strong portfolio of work focused on textile design in Adobe Illustrator.

· Proficiency in traditional design tools such as sketching and painting, as well as digital design tells suck as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

· Ability to work calmly and quickly in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.

· Experience sewing on industrial machines: single needle, cover stitch, serger, merrow, buttonholer.

· Must be experienced in pattern grading for standard sizes and custom sizing.

· Exceptional organizational and time management skills

· Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.

· Ability to recognize current trends and forecast emerging and upcoming trends.

· Strong understanding of the company brands and customers.

· Ability to contribute to positive team morale.

· Quick learner and strong problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.

· Ability and desire to work with a team as well as independently.

· Excellent design and conceptual skills.

· Excellent sense of style and color.

· Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator.

· Strong knowledge of fashion design/industrial product or industrial design.

· Strong knowledge of product development, material, and trims for the assigned product range.

· A passion for fashion and a deep understanding of current and emerging trends, especially in women’s apparel.
