Position Summary:

Our Client, a leading designer and distributor of luxury bedding and accessories, seeks a visionary Director of Textile Design & Development to elevate their brand through innovative design and strategic direction. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual who thrives on challenges, embraces growth, and is eager to take ownership of a flourishing soft home goods textiles company. This is NOT an art direction/graphic designer-only type of role (although there is a component of it). Nor is it a UX/UI position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Brand Leadership: Develop and implement a cohesive artistic vision across all product lines and marketing channels, ensuring brand consistency and high-quality creative output.
• Innovative Product Development: Design various textiles for bedding, pillows, and other soft home goods. Lead the conceptualization of new products, incorporating innovation and trend-forward thinking. Expand and evolve existing product categories to maintain and grow market presence.
• Team Management: Inspire and manage the textile design team, fostering an environment of creativity and professional growth. Set goals, provide feedback, and facilitate collaboration.
• Market Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive strategies to guide creative decisions and align with business objectives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Sales, and Product Development teams to ensure unified product launches, marketing campaigns, and brand messaging.
• Production and Execution Oversight: Oversee the design production process from concept to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Travel: Travel domestically and internationally to work through various stages of the textile development and sampling process.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Art, Textile, Fibers, or related fields.
• 10+ years of experience in creative roles within the design and soft-home goods industries, with a preference in Bedding/Linens industry.
• At least 3 years of exceptional leadership skills, managing with direct reports; ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
• Experience with the product development process from design to sampling to production of textiles/products.
• Experience with working with international textile manufacturing companies.
• Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for upcoming market trends and innovative creative thoughts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey creative concepts and strategies.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business demands.
• REQUIRED - portfolio/sample of work created.
