Job Description
As a Staff Accountant, you'll play a vital role in managing clients' financial information. This position includes responsibilities such as researching and analyzing general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring client satisfaction through clear communication. You will collaborate with clients to collect necessary data, troubleshoot accounting software, and maintain up-to-date financial records. The role reports directly to the Director of Accounting and does not involve managing other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare financial statements by gathering and analyzing data from clients and other internal departments
Record clients' inventories on a periodic basis
Enter transactions in accounting software (Intacct) that aren't captured through the POS
Troubleshoot software issues and address coding/mapping questions with team members
Review, code, and import banking transactions into accounting systems
Record petty cash, paid outs, and daily deposits when not handled through the POS system
Maintain and update cash flow tools for clients who utilize them
Reconcile general ledger entries and ensure accurate reporting of assets, liabilities, expenses, sales, and costs
Review P&L and balance sheet at the end of each period, making necessary adjustments, including accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and depreciation of fixed assets
Prepare, audit, and file tax forms, including 8027s, business tax license renewals, payroll tax filings, and sales tax reports
Perform quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned clients
Communicate with tax agencies to resolve outstanding issues, when necessary
Answer client questions related to their financial data, ensuring clear and accurate information
Support the Director of Accounting and other leaders with special projects
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong ability to collaborate effectively with clients and teammates
Detail-oriented with excellent project management skills and the ability to work efficiently
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in accounting principles and practices
Technical aptitude with automated accounting systems, databases, and reporting tools
Skilled in spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications
Required Experience and Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
At least one year of experience as a general ledger accountant
Experience in the restaurant industry (including front-of-house, back-of-house, or management roles) is required
Candidates with 5+ years of accounting experience but no degree will also be considered
Comfortable working in cloud-based systems, with the ability to quickly learn software tools
Occasional evening/weekend work may be required, resulting in overtime
