Position Overview:
As a Staff Accountant, you'll play a key role in managing financial data for our clients. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze general ledger accounts and prepare accurate financial statements on a regular basis. You'll communicate directly with clients, gather data, and troubleshoot software issues, ensuring that all financial records are organized and up-to-date. This role reports to the Director of Accounting and does not involve direct supervision of others.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare financial statements by collecting and analyzing data from clients and various systems
Maintain and record client inventories and transactions, including those not captured through the POS system
Troubleshoot and collaborate with software platforms to resolve issues and questions related to accounting systems
Import banking transactions and review for accuracy in accounting software
Handle petty cash, paid outs, and daily deposits in the appropriate systems
Manage cash flow tools for clients, ensuring smooth operations
Record general ledger entries and perform reconciliations to ensure accurate asset and liability reporting
Review profit & loss statements and balance sheets, and make necessary adjustments such as accruals and journal entries
Prepare, audit, and file various tax forms and quarterly filings as required
Perform quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for all assigned clients
Collaborate with clients and agencies to resolve any outstanding issues or questions related to financial data
Provide reports and respond to client inquiries related to accounting data, ensuring clarity and accuracy
Work on special projects as assigned by leadership
Skills & Qualifications:
Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage projects with high accuracy
Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in accounting principles and practices
High technical aptitude with cloud-based accounting systems and software
Proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications
Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
At least one year of experience as a General Ledger Accountant
Prior experience in the restaurant industry (FOH, BOH, or Management) is required
Candidates with 5+ years of accounting experience without a degree will be considered
Comfortable working in cloud-based systems and using various software applications
Occasional evening/weekend work may be required, resulting in overtime
