Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Needed in Grayson, KY!
ProCare Therapy is working with a school district located in Grayson, KY that is looking to hire an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year with the opportunity to renew for the following school year.

Details:

• Part-Time, Onsite
• Start Date: ASAP
• End Date: End of School Year
• Caseload Details to be Discussed During Interview
• Ready to Interview ASAP via Zoom

Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional vision assessments and O&M evaluations to determine students' needs.
• Develop individualized O&M goals based on assessment results, considering the student's current and future environments.
• Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility techniques, such as cane use, sighted guide techniques, and independent travel skills.
• Teach students to use residual vision and other senses to navigate their surroundings.
• Instruct students in the use of O&M-related technology and adaptive equipment (e.g., GPS devices, electronic travel aids).
• Work closely with teachers, special education staff, school administrators, and families to integrate O&M skills into the students daily routine and educational program.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, contributing to the development of educational plans and goals for students.

Requirements:

• Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility, Special Education, or a related field)
• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
• AVCREP National Certification
• Previous school experience preferred
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

• 20-30 Minute virtual interview directly with the school district
