Human Resources Summer Intern - *Only Local Candidates will be considered* - *In Office Monday-Thursday*

The Role :    This hands-on Human Resources Internship will provide exposure to various aspects of HR, including onboarding, talent management, succession planning, and other key areas within the department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow by collaborating with experienced HR professionals and supporting a range of initiatives and projects. As an intern, you will also gain insight into corporate insurance functions and the specialty marketplace. Additionally, you will develop essential skills for success by assisting with daily tasks and contributing to special projects alongside HR professionals.

Schedule :    Approximate work availability from June through August 2025 (9-12 weeks) required. SFM will work to accommodate university schedules. Weekly schedule will be Monday - Thursday and working at least 30 hours per week.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Gain exposure to various areas in HR such as benefits, payroll, talent acquisition and compliance.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate employee records, both paper file and electronic
  • Help track and update compliance requirements
  • Aid in evaluating and improving existing HR workflows and processes
  • Learn how to navigate and utilize HRIS platforms effectively.
  • Shadow HR staff and participate in team meetings
  • Collaborate and support the HR Team with various projects

  • Only local candid ates will be considered!
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (Business, Human Resources, Psychology, are preferred majors); a minimum of a sophomore status is preferred.
  • Able to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong technology skills including Microsoft Teams, Word and Excel are required
  • Highest degree of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality; demonstrated discretion in the handling of highly sensitive material and information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to build, partner and maintain relationships. internally and with management/leadership.
  • Resourceful, with good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Team player, willing to do a variety of tasks in support of the team.
  • Problem-solving ability and the ability to manage multiple projects and demands through to ti mely completion.

Compensation:   The base pay posted is just one component of SFM’s total compensation package. The salary range listed represents the full compensation range for this position.  Job title and starting pay will be based on the selected candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and education, if applicable as well as internal equity with other employees in the same job classification.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Regular attendance is required. Work takes place in a semi paperless environment within an office setting, or other remote location, using standard office equipment such as computers, photocopies, which requires being stationary for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and maintain concentration and focus. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Work is performed indoors with little to no exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
