Summary: The Full-Time Greenhouse Horticulturist is responsible for assisting the Greenhouse and Nursery staff in production, maintenance, and retail operations. These duties include production of annuals, native plants, perennials, etc. all work related to plant sales, and general upkeep of workspace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Propagation and production of vegetables, herbs, annuals, etc. for garden and retail sales.
• Monitors pests, diseases, and cultural conditions, reports issues to supervisor, and applies and records appropriate control measures using IPM (Integrated Pest Management).
• Assists in development and implements recordkeeping system and maintains data daily.
• Assist at monthly retail plant sales and garden shows and other events- set up/break down, process payments, assist customers, and keep sales areas tidy.
• Performs basic greenhouse sanitation tasks.
• Supervise and assist volunteers.
• Create and maintain propagation and inventory logs.
• Other duties and special projects at the greenhouse and garden as assigned by supervisor.
• Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule, include weekends and evenings.

Qualifications and Education Requirements: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience or vocational training in horticulture or related field.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Native plant knowledge preferred.

Working some weekends is mandatory.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and humidity.
