The Child Nutrition Assistant position at CHS Harrisburg is dedicated to ensuring that young children receive nutritious and delicious meals as part of our commitment to their health and well-being. In this vital role, you will work closely with the Food Service Coordinator to support food preparation, maintain quality standards, and coordinate the delivery of meals to classrooms. Your contribution will help create a high-quality dining experience that aligns with CHS' mission. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Food Service Coordinator to prepare and serve meals for children. Ensure that food service equipment is maintained at the correct temperatures. Package and deliver food items as required. Participate in regular meetings to discuss menu planning, catering services, and operational techniques. Complete necessary dining room checklists and waste tracking documentation. Maintain cleanliness by performing dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitation tasks. Dispose of trash from kitchen and service areas regularly. Adhere to HACCP/Food Safety protocols and state health regulations to prevent foodborne illnesses. Distribute snacks to children in accordance with scheduled times. Ensure that dietary needs and allergies of children are carefully considered during food preparation. Conduct safety checks and address any issues promptly. Assist with setup for catered events and functions. Loading and unloading catering supplies for off-site events. Report any maintenance issues related to food service equipment. Documentation for food safety program maintenance. Respond to allergy-related inquiries from parents and health professionals as needed. Compile data on food service items accurately. Establish positive relationships with children and faculty through effective communication. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Previous food service experience or knowledge of food products is preferred. First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are required. Valid NSF ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire. Ability to address customer service concerns efficiently. Strong record-keeping skills with the capacity to follow oral and written instructions. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a proactive approach. A responsible and enthusiastic attitude, with a strong alignment to serving a mission-driven organization. Ability to identify and solve problems effectively.
